BOWLS.

The chief interest to-day in tho bowling world is the "opening',' of several , of tho local greens. Within the city tho Victoria, Newtown, and Kelbume Clubs will demonstrate their ability to hospitably entertain visitors and to draw the " jack." Tho Petone Club is also to coiiiinenco operations to-day. On the Wellington Club's green there will be all-clay play, including a match (in the morning) botween ,a couple of Parliamentary rinks and representatives of the G.P.O. A card issued to members - of the Wellington Glub states that the_ Club matches for tho season will consist of champion singles, junior singles, rink match, pairs match, and tho Sargood Cup. Entries for the first two matches close on October 2C, and the games begin on Saturday, Nov. 2. Entries for the rink match'(for President and Vico- ' President's prizes) closo on November 16, and play begins on November 23. The pairs-match.-does not tako placo until January 18, and the Sargood Cup games begin on February 8.
