Despatches from Sicily on August 13 ieport that Mount Etna has suddenly broken into violent eruption. Dense clouds ot smoke rose to an immense' height, and flames '.vpre emitted. Owing to the vioJeneo of the eruption ob-sc-rvr.lioM was difficult. It "ivas stated that there are signs that- a largo portion of the cralcr was about to collapse. _ Twenty-two convicts out of fifty-four detained in tliu prison at Saragossa escaped- lecently. They, dug a tunnel through the prison wall to the culvert which passes under the River Ebro. The .prisoners passed through the tunnel and disappeared in the open country on the other side of the river. A meeting was held at Clapham recently of London County Council tram drivers to protest agaist the institution of a medical examination. Jlr.
