FEDERAL AND BRITISH REVENUE. By . Telegraph—Association—Copyright, i Melbourne, October -2. Tho Federal Customs revonue for tile first quarter of tho financial year totalled £3,023,000, an increase of £458,000 over tho last corresponding quarter. Tho incrcaso is laigely attributed to the new sariff, which has been in operation seven weeks. London, October 1. The quarterly revenue totalled £33,379,771, customs producing £7,931,000, excise £9,230,000, and stamps £2,073,000. Melbourne, October 2. State Savings Bank depositors during tho past year increased by 24,566, and the amount to the credit of depositors by £1,029,000.
The railway revenue for the past year was £4,012,000, the largest ever earned. The percentage of working expenses to revonuo was the lowest since 1878.
