Mr. H. A. Anderson, of tho Vacation Department, and secretary jf the Wellington Swimming Club, who has been on a -tour of the world, returned to Wellington yesterday by the Maheno. Samuol Brown and Co.) returned from a holiday trip to Sydney by tho Maheno ' yesterday. Mr. Brown returned suffering from-an affection of the throat, with which ho is confined to his home. Holmes, formerly of the Eketahuna "Express" staff, is leaving New Zealand this week to seek his fortune in Vancouver. , The steam trawler Nora' Nivon put in at Nelson on Tuesday night and landed Mr. L. F. Ayson, Chief Inspector of Fisheries, for medical attendance. A Press Association message states that Mr. Ayson, who was in charge of the trawling operations, met with an accident some weeks ago, from tho cffccts of which lie was still suffering. Tho troublo was aggravated by a fall on tho deck of the-vessel a day or two ago. He was attended by' a doctor in Nelson, and later he was able to continue the journey to Wellington in tho trawler. Prof. C. Edwards, examiner for tho Trinity College of Music, London, left for Picton, Nelson, and the West Coast yesterday in continuation of his tour through the Dominion. Mr. and Mrs. Joachim, of Dunedin, returned from a trip to the Islands and Sydney yesterday by tho Maheno, and proceed south by the same vessel to-day for Dunedin. At tlio annual meeting of parishioners of St. John's Church last evening. Miss Eva Rash, who has presided at the organ on several occasions when Mr. Maughan Barnett, the organist, has been unable, through illness, to attend, was presented with air inscribed gold bangle 'and a silver-backed brush and comb.
