NOVELIST AND MIS WIFE.
ORDERED TO RETURN TO lIIS HOME. Mr. William Le Quoux, tho novelist, was sued by. his wife in the Divorco Court; 011 July 24, for restitution of conjugal rights. Mr. Middleton, who appeared for Mrs. Lo Quoux, said tno marriage took placo in 1902. In February 190G Mr. and Mrs. Lo Queux went to Florence, where thfcy had a villa. They lived there for Bomo days, and thon .Mr. Lo. Queux left, saying it was noccssary that he should go away to do somo work in connection with a book ho was bringing out; Mrs. Lo Queux sent her husband an affectionate letter while lie was away. In reply, he wroto making "all sorts of complaints" against her, antl at a later dnto ho suggested a decree of separation. Mrs. Le Quoux refused to agree to this, and wroto him tho following last appeal:— "My Dear Willie, —Won't you put an end to this miserablo . sfcato of affairs ? Wo aro, I. feci, drifting furtlior and further apart every day, and I can bear it no longer. " Won't you come back to mo, or let mo go . back to you either horo or in Itajy ? Do lot mo hear from you at once. "With salutations, your affectionato rt'YNIOOM.. ■ There was no reply to this letter. Mr. Bayford said Mr. Le Queux did not defend the suit. He was prepared to givo his wife a substantial allowance.
Mr. Justico Bargrave Deane ordered Mr. Lo Queux to return to -his wifo within fourteen days.
