NO TENDER YET. By Telegraph—Association—Copyright. Melbourne, October 1. Tenders for the now mail contract close on Thursday. So far no tender has been received. Though there is no tender yet, it seems that, at any rate, the Orient Company, which tool; up. the mails on a temporary basis on the failure of the Laing syndicate, will be a tenderer, Mr. Kenneth ..Anderson, a director of the Orient Company, stated the other day in Adelaide that the company would tender, and that if their contract is successful they will put on faster, larger, and more up-to-ilata vessels; if they lose the contract, they will have to rearrange the service. They would, in that event, be unablo to continue the passenger service, as it is tho 1 subsidy only which has enabled the. shipping company to run that class of
