Hall, M.H.R., joined them further down the line. The Rev. C. J. Wood, President of tho Primitive Methodist Church in the Dominion, left for Westport . by the s.s. Mapourika last evening. Mr. Ward will visit the fivo or six congregations ' on the i Demiiston, Millerton, and Seddonville Coal Mines. /. Mr. Gilbert Carson, of Wanganui, has been re-elected to represent the districts of Taranaki, - Wanganui, . Hawke's Bay, Marlborough, Nelson, Groy, and Westland on the committee of advice pf the Wellington Training College. ; A, Christchurch Press Association telegram states that an. anniversary ef interest to journalists throughout the Dominion eventuated on Monday, when Mr. G. R. Hart, chief of the reporting staff ,of, " Tho Press," completed thirty-seven'years' continuous service with the " Christchurch Press" Company. Mr. Hart, who joined the staff on October 1, 1870, when tho journal was issued from the old premises, which stood on a-portion of ;the site at present occupied by the offices of the company, claims to be the oldest working journalist in New' Zealand, and is certainly one of the best known and most popular newspaper ■ men of the Dominion. 'It can bo safely, asserted that no other journalist -.; at present in harness has, for thirty-seven years, continuously occupied the same position on the same journal. There is hardly any public movement in Christchurch that Mr. Hart has not seen initiated, and in yery many he lias taken a .close and personal interest, and has done much to forward. Mr Hart has. always taken a keen interest in matters affecting his fellow-journalists, and is a member of tho New Zealand Institute of Journalists.

Mr. W. M. Manson has been appointed sole' teacher at Kakariki School, near Hukanui, Forty-Mile Busli.-

Miss Thirza Caverhill has been presented with: a. handsome gift by the teaching staff of tlio Petono School, on her retirement from teaching. Mr. Home, head-teacher,/made tlio presentation, and wished her every happiness in lief'jiew sphere of,-life.

Mr. Singleton, Government cheeso expert, who has been studying Canadian methods, is due back in Wellington to-day, by tho Maheno.

Mr. H. Buddie, managing clerk for Messrs. Kirk and Wilson, solicitors, has resigned his position to enter into business on his own account in Wellington. Mr. Buddie was the recipient of a presentation before leaving the firm. On appearing in the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning, Mr. Buddie was congratulated from the Bench' by Dr. M'Arthur, G.M. :
