The Thorndon people have a beautiful garden, whilo Newtown Park has its zoo, although the Park sadly needs a few of the_ flowers ofteu thrown away (?) at 'tho north ond of tho city. The beautiful little spot round' the Newtown Library is being filched away to givo place to' ugly'bricks and mortorj though wo _ a'ro quite pleased to see that additional accommodation. is to be given for the •Lifeiry,: and trust it moans' riiqrq' books, bnt if they' go and spend a thousand or so upon a museum and a lecture hall when both these aro not required, thon wo doubt their [discretion. Our Dominion Governjmcirt are to build us 'a Dominion j museum at Mount Cook, and as for the few lectures given during tho , winter months, why cannot they continue to be carried on elsewhere? 'They have been well attended, and •ample accommodation has been found •for them.
