. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of tho Port Nicholson Yacht Club shovs tho club to .oe in a sound position. The totnl membership i s 87 ordinary, 21 junior, i lady, members, • 12 lionorary life members, and 10 supernumerary'memoers. Gratification is expressed it the result of the past season's working, which is considered the most successful .for many years. The'result was mainly duo to tho large'number of new yachts, launches, etc., that -•nade then- apcaranco in-Wellington raters. Tho second class now consists of eleven yachts, the now arrivals being Messrs. Scott and Smith's Winrero, 'Mr. I<\ Davies' Nancy Stair. Dr. R. H. Makgill's Janet, Mr. B. Clarke's Mawhiti, and Messrs. Lambert antl M'Keegan's Petrel, and rumour has it that other boats will appear, before next season's racing begins. The committee regrets to report that the First-class Yacht racing .of Jate years has not been the success it should bo, and urges upon the in.'oming committee tho task of altering tho c'afsifieatioii of yachts so as to pnsuro First-lass' Yacht races boiny field every year. During tho season overtures wore niado to the Thovndon Yacht Club with a view of taking over tho club house. Tho commodore agreed tc advance tho money upon certain conditions, which, however, were not accepted by the members at a general meeting. There is no doubt, continues the report," that the time has now arrived when tho Port Nicholson Vacht Club should have a club house of its own, and it is to be regretted very much that the. .matter was ailownd- to drop at this stageMention is made of the fact that Mr. J. Jack Ims sold his 'yacht-' Ngaira to a Vv'ellington syndicate--I'iii! Ngaira v.-ill bo _ racing in'first-' ?!ass yachts this coming season, after a lapse of several years. Cruises to tho Sounds, etc., veto mado by tho yachts Kotiri, Waitangi, ..Uuriati, Mawhiti, and Syren. In this connection the committee reports that tho Picton Regatta Committeo will in all probability place a race or two on their Now Year's Day programme if sullicicut entries arc received from \Vc!!iii»iton and elsewhc-re.
