At 11 o'clock on Thursday, a number of citizens, together with a body, of school children, and the school cadets under Captains Lynsky and Beddingfield, assembled before the school to hear the Proclamation' read- by tho Mayor (Mr 31/Ewan). After tho flag had been unfurled and saluted by tho children and the Mayor had read tha Proclamation, Mr. M'Kcnzie, chairman of tho School Committee, read a telegram from the Premier giving some explanation of the term Dominion and the status to which, the-colony had been raised. An interesting ceremony concluded with cheers for tho King, the •Mayor, and the Chairman of Committees. The.Hope of Petone Lodge, held their weekly meeting on Wednesday evening in the Banfurly Hall.
