Business is almost entirely suspended/ and the public give 'thdmselves lip to an emotion that nnght be termed holiday patriotism. The volunteers and regulars turn out in-their most glittering apparel; the school children ' parade in solid phalanx', whilst leading men deliver fervid speeches of a character suited to-the occasion. The guns Liazo forth in grim approval, ■ and the air is joyous with-Hags-and bright music. All recognise Dominion Day as the anniversary of an epoch in tho history of a great country that plays an important part, in world politics.
