WANTED TO KNOW.

To the. Editor of the Cromwell Argus. Sir,— l want to know when the Cromwell waterworks are to be commenced, or tenders called for the same, at least? Oar worthy Mayor .promised, at his election, that “they would probably be completed in five months from that date, if the weather proved favorable.’* Well, generally, I fancy the weather is most favorable, and the sooner the Mayor and Councillors “grasp the nettle,” and initiate this most desirable scheme, the better. I want to know whv a fire is not provided in the Cromwell Public Library these bitter frosty nights ? also why the newspapers are not filed regularly, as in all other libraries, instead of being sold to the purveyors of sausages and other “small goote." 1 want to know why the town dayman is not instructed to rake the road metal and gravel from the side-channels to the centre of the road, so as to gradually form a crown to the same, and thus remedy the consequences of the faulty specification supplied to the late contractor? I want to know if the Council propose to utilise the town manure for reclaiming the sandy waste north of the town, instead of wasting it} by burial as at present ? I may want to know something more presently. . In the meantime,—-I am, &c., DIOOEKE3, July 27, 1875.
