CARRICK WATER COMPANY.

To the Mcßtor of the Cromwell Argus. SREPLY HO SHAREHOLDER-AND ANOTHER SHAKE- '■■'■'. HOLDER, You ate true and genuine types of men, who, leing disappointed in gaining honours and emoluments of office, would now unwillingly cut •each his respective nose off to .spite each his respective face, and charge your own surgical bungle to the Carrick Water Company. There is no shareholder in or outside the district who does.not understand the trouble anonymous 'corresponding shareholders would put us to if we heeded their effusions, as given vent to through the channel of the columns of the Cromwell Argus. As a shareholder in an independent Company, whose business is conducted only by shareholders who have paid up their calls, and by the directors and responsible managers they appoint, I would request " Another Shareholder,' who says he is not much of a hand at the pen, to stick it behind his ear, slip into the registered office of the company, get the books, read and carefully remember, or note, if his pen will assist in the emergency, all information he as a shareholder may avail himself of. If blame is due to the directors, then confront them at a meeting with any accusations he can make against their conducting of tie business, instead of adopting the mode of assailing them through the columns of a public newspaper with matter quite uninteresting to the public, who at present have no voice in the matter, All shareholders can meet on the same ground at the company's meetings, and at the manager's desk with the books .before them, have their grievances (if any) considered and settled, and at the same time assist the directors with their advice for the good working of the concerns of the company. I hope "Shareholder" and "Another Shareholder" will let slip their mantles of incog., attend meetings, pay their calls, and talk business to their felfow-slareholders face to. face ; and not in fear,:cloaked in such a detrimental dismake statements and throw out hints antagonistic to the progress of the Carrick Eangc Water Race Company. A Director. Cromwell, November 28, 1874.
