HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the above Committee iWas held on Saturday evening, the 31st instant, Present: Messrs Arndt; Gudgeon, Taylor, Starkey, Goodger, Scott, Jolly, and Johnson. The preliminary business, —minutes and correspondence,—having been disposed of, the report was brought up of the sub-com-mittee appointed to arrange matters in connection with the ceremony of laying the foundation-stone of the building. The report was adopted, and the sub-com-mittee were given power to make the necessary arrangements.-'-* - ' • Mr Logan having been called on business to Dunedin, Mr Goodger was deputed to lay the stone, acting as proxy for Mr Logan. It was agreed to send a telegram to the Warden, asking that a temporary license be granted to Mr Starkey for the occasion. A subscription-list was ordered to be forwarded to Mr M'Nulty, of the Roaring Meg, and the meeting then closed. The report of the sub-committee appointed to arrange for the carrying out of the ceremony on Wednesday entered very fully into particulars, of which it is onjy requisite that a few of the more important should now be mentioned. A letter had been received by them from Mr Thomas Webb, of Clyde, offering his services, as a man of experience in such matters, on the day, and stating that he was in a position to provide a supply of flags, &c, for the procession. His offer was accepted. The order of the procession is arranged as follows: —Brass Band, Mayor and Council, Building Committee, Friendly Societies, Citizens, and Vehicles, —Messrs Starkey and Jolly being marshals. It is to start from the Town-hall at one o'clock.
