The following letter from Dr Bakowollto. the Honorary Secretary, St. Joseph's lodge, Hibernian' Australasian Catholic Benefit Society, Duhedih, is published in the Dunedin Star, It sufficiently explains itself: — ; . ... " Dear Sir,—l beg to acknowledge the receipt of your, letter of the 13th inst., giving me, on the-part of the St. Joseph's Lodge, three months' notice of the termination Of our agreement. I shall be. most happy to dispense with the notice and give up the Lodge as soon as you can make other araangements for medical attendance, and pay me what will be due from the end of l'ast-quarter. " Had your letter terminated with giving me the required notice, I should have had nothing further to say ; but as the second paragraph states that the reason for the notice is Mrs Bakewell's advertisement lor an English or Scotch servant, I must tell you thatj consider this a most impertinent and unwarrantable interference in" iny domestic affairs. " I never interfere with my wife in the engagement and management of her servants, and I Will hot allow any man or set of men to" do so,'whether they call themselves members of the Australasian Catholic Benefit Society, Or by any other combination of acljectives. "Let me advise the members of St. .Joseph's Lodge to mind their own business and leave women to attend to the affairs of the kitchen. —I am, <fcc, "RW, Bakewell, M,D."
