MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Town Council was held bn. Thursday evening last, at which were present : The Mayor (Mr Dawkins), and Councillors Wright, Shanlv, Pierce, Hayes, and Grant, The meeting opened at 8 p.m. ■ s ; ■ The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. permanent levels. The plan of the permanent levels, and a report thereupon, were laid upon the table arid considered. It was agreed to refer the plan to the surveyor, witli instructions to make another copy of the plan upon a larger scale, and embodying the corrections >and alterations suggested in the report. The alterations to be first marked upon the present plan. TENDERS. Tenders were received for contract No. 7,- —the re-formation of Melmore-street from Sligo-street upwards ; and also for laying the galvanized piping. ' For the mad there were two tenders, —W. Williams’, £55 ; and R. E. Dagg’s, £73 3s. W: Williams’ tender was accepted. There were two tenders received for laying ’the piping,— R. Brown’s, £l2 10s. ; and R. E. Dagg’s, £l4, Or. Shanly proposed, and Or. Wright seconded, that Mr Dagg’s tender be accepted. Cr, Grant proposed, and Or. Pierce seconded, an amendment, that Mr Brown’s tender be accepted. The amendment was ’carried. BYE-LAWS, The bye-laws were then brought up for consideration. With a few literal corrections, the proposed bye-laws were adopted. On account of Cr. Jolly’s absence, the notice of motion in re the man of the township was allowed to stand over till next meeting. R. and S. Haworth’s account for £6l was passed for payment. The usual vote of thanks to the Mayor concluded the proceedings.
