A fMVfc Yafn'.**) "Aw, them courtin'-times 1., W'allp, it's no una tryin' . j '.'• i f\ ' To tell wlittt'tfrey were) and time 1b flyinY But yon know how it is—the father pretemlin* He never sees nothin', and the mother mendiu', Or a-grippin' the Bible and dpcllin' a tex', And a-eyin* us now and then oVer her specs. 'And Betsy and me sitting back in the chimley, And her a-clickin' her needles so nimbly, And me lookin' straight in old Anthony's face, And a'Stealin' my arni .round Bessy's wais'. she was I. ,Bat when 1 Anthony said* ' .Now,'cmlder,' it's time to be goin' to bed,' Then iJetsy would say, as we all of Us rii, ' I wonder what sort of night it is !' Or--' Never mind, father, I'll shut the door/ And shut it she did, you may be sure j Only the way she did it, d'ye see ? I was outside, and so was she !"
