MEMORIAL.
The following is a copy of a memorial Scut by to-day’s mail from the Mayor and Corporation to his Honor the Superintendent:— To his Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Otago. The Memorial of the Mayor and Corporation of the Town of Cromwell, Humbly sheweth i 1. That the street known as Melmore Terrace has for some years been encroached upon by the builders on sections on the South side thereof, and also bv the persons who have erected houses on block IX., CromWell. 2. That your memorialists have given the matter their earnest consideration, and they approve of the following plan of dealing with the matter, as that which appears most desirable under the circumstances. Ist. That Melmore Terrace be reduced from the Cromwell Bridge to Ems-street to a uniform width of fifty-seven (57) feet. 2nd. That the present North and North-East line of Melmore Terrace remain undisturbed. 3rd. That the land withdrawn from Melmore Terrace on the South side, and opposite block IX., be added to the said block. 4th. That block IX., with the proposed addition thereto, be handed over to the Corporation as a reserve for purposes of revenue, or otherwise be subdivided into sections and sold. Yonr memorialists therefore de ire that your Honor will be pleased to give effect to their wishes in this matter ; and they, as in duty bound, will ever pray, &c. Cromwell, 15th September, 1873.
