A very heavy flood has occurred at Wellington. There was a rainfall of thirtytwo hours' duration. Four and a half inches of rain fell, three inches of which fell during the last twelve hours. Considerable damage has been done by the flood, which is the heaviest known for many years. In Blenheim, also, in the Province of Marlborough, very heavy rain has fallen ; and a storm of wind blew down the railway .viaduct.
