Mr Gilbert, of the Seamen's Mission, Port Chalmers, has resigned. At the last meeting of the Dunstan Miners' Association, Mr Alexander proposed, and Mr Lindsay seconded—" That this association does not deem it desirable that the delegated powers of the goMficlds should he withdrawn from Provincial and Superintendent's Executives while they hold their present functions; but they would recommend that Provincial Governments he disrobed of their parliamentary p ra ' pliernalia ; and more simple and less expense machinery introduced : and that the £oldfieM» he then put under the control of a responsible number of miners in the Colonial Executive. An amendment was put and carried, " That the opinion of the elected member for the district he first heard on the question." It was decided that the Goldtields Bill be carefully considered by the members, and a special meeting held at a early date to give an expression of op* thcroon, - Tuapcka Times.
