[from our own correspondent.] DUNEDIN, Tuesday, 9 a.m. The Opera Company opened the new Queen's Theatre last night, and received an enthusiastic reception. A fire broke out at half-past five this morning in George-street, the premises of Robson (tailor), Gilchrist (painter), and Monro being burned down. Two small shops on the opposicle of the street were also gutted. The Hibernian Hotel was saved with difficulty. Ex-Sergeant Ryan is to be brought up at the Mayor's Court this morning. A lecture is to be delivered in Auckland to-night, by the Rev. A. F. Porter, on the Martin's Bay settlement. The proceeds of the lecture are to be devoted to the purchase of seeds and other helps for the settlers there. The Presbyterian Synod meets to-morrow evening in the First Church.
