MASONIC CELEBRATION.
CROMWELL KILWINNING: LODGE. The members of the above Lodge held a meeting on Tuesday afternoon, the 3lst ult., for the purpose of installing the officers for the ensuing twelve months. P.M. Bro. Christophers, Dunstan Lodge, officiated as Installing Master, and was assisted by P.M. 81-o. Presliaw, Cromwell Kilwinning Lodge, and the Rov. J. Jones, Chaplain and S3. M. of the Dunstan Lodge. Bro. G. Smith, Mount Ida Lodge, presided at the harmonium. Tlie ceremony was conducted in a very efficient and impressive manner. The following were the officers installed : Bros. M. Fraer, R.W.M. ; J. S. Bnvres, D.M. ; W. Bell, S.M. ; 11. Behrens, S.W. ; J. Marshall, J.W. ; T. Martin, Sec. ; G. W. Goodgor, Treasurer; J. W. Escott, S.D. ; W. Taylor, J.D. ; A. M'Minn, I.G. ; James Stuart, 0. Pierce, and R. Brown, Stewards. At 4 o'clock, Bro. J. Jones preached a sermon to the brethren assembled, taking his text from 1 John iii, verse 2. In the evening, an invitation ball took place in the Lodge-room (Kawarau Hotel), and was a very successful affair. The Lodge was tastefully decorated with Masonic emblems and evergreens. A professional musician presided at the piano, the instrument; having been kindly lent for tiie occasion by Mr Colelough. There were about ninety people present, of which about thirty-live were of the softer sex. Dancing commenced at 7.30, and was kept up till 4 in the morning, when the party dispersed, all expressing themselves highly pleased with their evening's enjoyment. The refreshments were catered for by Mr Bastings, and high encomiums were passed as to the very satisfactory manner in which he carried out iiis part of the programme. Among the Masonic visitors, the following brethren were present :—Bros. Christophers, P.M.. ; Jones, Chaplain ; Harvey, S. W. ; Eames, Steward ; and Maekay, of Dunstan Lodge ; Bro. Black, Kilwinning Lodge, Montrose; Bro. J. Fenwiek, Hiram Lodge, Dunedin ; and Bro. G. Smith, Mount Ida Lodge.— Communicated.
