BIRTH. On the 13th December, at Cliff Cottage, Bannockburn, the wife of Mr William Goldsmith, of a son. MARRIAGE. At Cromwell, on the 9th December, by the Fev. Joshua Jones, Thomas, eldest son of Mr John Martin, Co. Waterford, Ireland, to Jessie. fourth daughter of Mr M. A. Anderson, of Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland. ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENT. St, Bathans. —Master King was bred ly Mr Smithara, and is now five years old. He is by Tom King, out of Black Bess, by Pnraier. At the Cromwell Spring Meeting of 1871, Master King ran fourth in the Maiden Plate, for which nine started. Three days afterwards, —viz., on the Bth September,—te won the Maideu Plate of £lO at the Dunstan Spring Races, beating Ruby (his half-sister) anl four others. Last New Year’s Day, at Cromwell. Master King won the Hospital Ram. He never won a race in the Wakatip distrbt. Novice. —Tambourini ran second to Lurline in the Canterbury Cup.
