[from our own correspondent.] DUNEDIN, Tuesday, 9 a. in. The immigrants by the ships Palmerston and Christian M'Ausland are still in quarantine. A fresh case of scarlatina was discovered yesterday. Mr D. L. Simpson lias commenced his duties as Provincial Engineer. Mr Grove, formerly of Tuapeka, was entertained at a public banquet at the Thames previous to his departure for Australia. A Maori named Maaka was tried yesterday at Napier for the murder of a scout in 1808. He was found guilty, and sentenced to death. English telegrams state that the Hon. F. Dillon Bell has been knighted.
