The Charters Towers Rush.
In reference to the above, the Arm Sept. 7, has the following telegram frol Townsville, Queensland, dated the previoj day:—"The reports from Charters Twij are much exaggerated. Large numbeni miners are on the ground, but those sintii have lost the lead, which is very narroi The wash-dirt is stacked for want of ™ From present appearances there is noindua ment for new comers, for all the alluviahinl ing is taken up. The reefing news contuii favourable, but as some time must elapseb fore a crushing, there is no opening for di, gers unless they have sufficient capital for few months' support." Commenting aa on the above the Argus says :—" The tel grains from Townsville, published elsewher should serve to act as a caution to those wl are inclined to risk their fortunes at the nj diggings at Charters Towers. It appes that a large number of miners are already! the ground, but those sinking have lost d lead, which is very narrow. No is held out to persons to visit the diggings, j all the alluvial sinking is already taken § and reefing is evidently a matter of consffl able time, and expenditure of means. Um these circumstances, Charters Towers d«j not appear to be such a good thing as TO first supposed."
