APPLICATION. Protection.—\. Sutherland, Stonewall Grf Nevis, thirty' days, (on account of incW weather) : granted. " Water Races-. —Wm. Phillipi applied forj sluicediead from the 94-mile creek, Flat. The application was objected to by J o i Hurley, on the ground that be (the objector) C been for four years past in certificated of a right to one sluicediead from the same crei for irrigation purposes. The objector stati that the applicant had on several previous ow. sions attempted to obtain possession of the wata but that Mr Warden Pyke had invariably J, fused to grant him a right to any portion of ji His Worship said that as it was admitted tin was only half a head usually running i Q A creek, and that the right to a full head wasy by the objector, a second right to the water con! not be granted. Edmund Elliott and anotb applied for permission to carry six sluice-W of water across the main road from theirdj near Felton's Hotel, Duiistan Gorge. Tl vV'arden read a letter he had received from tM District Engineer, objecting to the grant oaty ground that the race would injure the road™ but stating that the objection would he vrij drawn if certain conditions were complied ml by the applicants.
