DUNEDIN
[from our own correspondent. ]
Tuesday, !) a.m. Messrs Fish and Rossbothnm have been nominated for the Mayoralty. It was reported in town yesterday that a case of small-pox had come under medical cognizance. But from enquiries I have made, 1 believe the report is untrue. Inspector Morton, formerly of the Otago Police Force, died at Auckland on Sunday.
A frightful disease has appeared among the Awaras at Tauranga. The bodies, after death, become black and putrid. I'he General Assembly meets at Wellington to-day.
