Copper has boen discovered at Mount Watkin, near Waikonaiti. The lode on the surface is from IS to 40 feet in width. The (Government of New South Wales have lately brought into force amended mining regulations which are deemed to be specially fitted to meet the requirements of quartz-min-ing in that colony, The purport of these resjnlalions is stated to he that the amount of labour to be employed has been reduced to one man per acre, and the rental of leasea ha., lem rcdu e.l from £2 to £\ n-r a:ro.
