0 —■ The Heart of Oak Company, after a fortnight's crushing at the Star-and-Oak battery, cleaned up on Saturday last, the result being 253 OZ3. 4 dwts. from 175 tons of stone. This claim still maintains its prestige as the Lest on the Range, if not in the district. The Royal Standard Company have com- j pletcd the erection of their additional four stamps, and were to recommence crushing) yesterday, a parcel of twenty tons from their own claim being in readiness at the battery. A sixty-ton lot from the Ne ,v iloyal Standard is to follow. The Star of the East is reported to be looking very well, and a better yield than usual is looked for next crushing. The Nil Desperandum Company are still grassing stone. The reef, some twenty feet below the surface, is four feet in thickness ; and the prospects obtained from it vary from 20 to 30 dwts. to the ton. The Golden Gate Company are still driving their tunnel, and have penetrated to a distance of 183 feet. They evidently mean to prove their ground thoroughly, and their operations have certainly been carried on with
