BLACKS RACE MEETING.

—0 - The Blacks races (writes a correspondent) came o'l' on I'riday and Saturday last, and two better days' racing have not been witnessed in this'district for years. There wore a great many people in attendance,- with a good sprinkling ol the fair ;ex ; ami Lho westher was everything that could he desired. The refreshment booch was presided ever by Messrs Pitches Brothers, who gave universal satisfaction. 'L'iie Maiden Plate- for wh'oh six started—was won hy Mr Scotts Ida, hut a protest entered hy the owner of the second horse, on the ground that Ida hati previously won public money, was allowed, and the strikes awarded to Fairy Queen —The Handicap also brought si\ r hoi*3csto the starting-post, and was won by an outsider— Wclc cue'. This was a very good race, although everyone considered it a gift to Musician, or a horse owned hy Mr Doyle, of Deep Stream.— The Hack Race, for which sis started, was ultimately won hy Musician. Pillbox took 11...I 1 ...- first heat,—Musician and Roderick being hold back for the second, in which a most exciting race took place between them, Musician winning by half a lieal. in the third heat Musician disposed of Pillbox as he thought lit. So ended the first day'.-: racing. <>n the second day. the Hurdle Race (heats) was won by Mr T. Logan's Fire-eater, which ran a dead heat with Musician, but the owner of the latter refused to all ow him again to run. There were several minor races, which were all well contested. The Hospital Ltacc contributed £;) to the funds of the institution.
