Lord Bury will probably be the next Governor of Hew Zealand. The Marquis of Normanby replaces Earl Belmore. The French relations with Italy are unfriendly. The trade strikes in England are assuming alarming proportions, and the principal industries are deranged thereby. England is at present free from Asiatic cholera. Great military manoeuvres are going on near St. Petersburg, Thousands are dying of cholera in Russia and Germany. The London Tim’s wishes cordial success to the New Zealand scheme of settling the emigrants along the contemplated railway lines. Wool is Id to lid higher than last, closing rates. The wool sales opened with great animation ; 130,317 bales were catalogued, and 930 bales of flax sold from £2l to £39 for;.sage*. : rioi- dtt&ced. " ‘
