A Woman Charged with Bigamy,

Marion Webb, alias Mrs Kenny, alias Margaret Wilson, was brought up at the. Mayor's Court, Dunedin, on the 10th inst.,' charged with having, at Kawarau Gorge, on the 15th August, married one Stewart Leslie, her husband, William Webb, being still alive. It appeared that she, two years ago, was married to Web b at the Roman Catho-. lie Church here by the Revi' Father Moreau, and had since gone up .country.. She had been arrested here on telegrams received fr.o_m Clyde, which stated that' her husband had charged her with committing bigamy by V■marrying a man named Stewart Leslie, and that a warrant had been issued for her apprehension. Detective Fairell deposed that she formerly lived at the back of M'Cubbin's Hotel, and that she was the woman described in the telegram. The accused was understood to say that she could have been arrested at Cromwell if any one had wanted to arrest her. She enquired concerning some jewellery which had been taken by the police from her, and was informed that it would be handed back to her in the event of there being no other claimant. She was remanded till the 16th, pending the arrival of the warrant.
