CROMWELL TOWN COUNCIL.

Letters were received from Mr H. A. Stratford, Mr J. ‘ G. Ballard, (Secttetaty of . the Library * Committee,) and Messrs Mills, Dick.aid Co. TENDERS. The following tenders for kerbing and channelling Melmore Terrace were opened:—T. and J. Escott, £l9 19s ; Charles Hastings, kerbing, £5 10s per chain—channelling, £2 per chain ; John Hurley, kerbing, £5 15s per chain—channelling, £3 15s per chain. The tender of Mess, a Escott, being informal, was not considered; and upon the motion of Cr Dagg, seconded by Cr Brown, Mr Hastings’ tender was accepted, PROPOSED SALE OF TOWN HALL. The consideration of Mr Ballard’s letter—stating that the Library Committee were willing to purchase the Town Hall, and asking for further particulars—was deferred till the next meeting. FINANCE. Mr Hastings’ account, £9, for building two culverts over the Town-race, was passed for payment. MEMORIALS. The Town Clerk was instructed to draw up two memorials to His Honor the Superintendent —one of them asking for Weekly Courts here, —and one to the Postmaster-General, asking that the salary of the Postmaster (Mr Ballard) might be increased, as it is totally out of proportion to the onerous character of the duties which he performs. This concluded the evening’s business.
