PROSPECTUg =' OF ■ Clje Hrrofa Phocste ... AND SHOTOVfiR, MACPIOWN, & CAR DR ON A REPORTER: / A Weekly Newspaper, to be Published T ARROWTOWN EVERY PR 11) THE FIRST NUMBER Will appear on FRIDAY, 23th MAY 1871. subscription : 0/9 Per Quarter, Payable in Advance The projectors of the a nuo r ADVOCATE have come forv. m-i to supply whut has long been felt to bo a want in the Important District of which Arroivtownis the centre. They haYe clono so in the full assurance of liberal support from the Commercial, Agricultural, ami Mining classes of the community, whoso interests it will be their earnest enueavour to advance. • ••..... .. • The time has arrived when this District desires and deserves a Journal of its own, which shall be not only a disseminator of news, but the' Advocate of the rights of the Sdttle'rs. The resources of this extensive District require to be made kuoWu, as | well as its wants. It is not too much to say that had the District possessed an independent Journal, —an outspoken Organ of Public Opinion,—many of the evils from which tho residents now suffer would never have existed, or would have been speedily extirpated. We shall consistently urge upon both the General and Provincial Governments the wants of the various localities included in our District. With our rich and wide-spread auriferous deposits, and the extent and fertility of our agricultural lands, we may, with erdinmy industry and prudence, and ordinary attention to our requirements on the part of the Government, look confidently forward to a long period of general prosperity. Inspired by this belief, we intend to bring the Arrow Advocate before the Public ; and while We promise to do all that we can to make known the wants and advance the interests of the place, we trust the Public will alsd feel it to be their interest to strengthen ourhands, and accord us a li!>eral measure of support, Considerable space will be devoted to tho discussion of Agricultural Topics, and Articles from the pens of experienced Agricultural Writers will appear from time to time. Mining Matters will i-cceive adequate attention; and all New Inventions or Improved Processes having reference to Gold Mining will be carefully chronicled. Market Reports.— Tho latest Stock, Grain, and General Produce Markets will be reported,—with the most reliable quotations. The value of this feature in the Advocate will doubtless be recognised in the agricultural portions of the District. The latest Telegraphic News from'all parts of the Colony, up to the hour of going to press, will be published in each issue ; and the English Mail News will be reported at the earliest possible lime. The Advocate will afford an ,excellent Advertising Medium, as it will circulate widely through the entire Lake District, including Queenstown, Frankton, Shotovcr, Skippers, Macetown, Cardrona, Ac.
