WARDEN’S COURT.
Wednesday, 23tii September, 1870. (Before V. Pyke, Esq., Warden.) The following applications were disposed of : PROTECTIONS. F. C. Saxe, alluvial claim at Duffer's Gully, ninety days : granted. A. Olson and party, alluvial claim at Kawarau Gorge, thirty days, objections were lodged by Dixon and Robertson, and the application waa adjourned for a fortnight, to enable the Warden to inspect the ground. R. Scotc and party, claim No. I north of Elizabeth Reef, Garrick Range : granted. EXTENDED CLAIMS. Geo. Ramsay and another, two acres at Shepherd’s Creek : granted. A. D. M'Lean and another, two acres, situate a mile south of Kawarau Station : granted. L. Davis and another, two acres on Bannockburn Creek : refused. TAIL RACES. A. M'Loughliu, from claim 300 yards above Halliday's store, Shepherd’s Creek : granted. A. Olson and party, from their claim at Kawarau Gorge : hearing adjourned till 12th inst. John Bruce and party, from their claim at Smith's Gully; granted. George Ramsay and another, from claim on Shepherd’s Creek : granted. WATER RACES. A. Ritchie applied for permission to construct a race from Pipeclay Gully. The application was objected to by Willing and Graver, but the objection was subsequently withdrawn, and the application was granted on condition that the objectors shall not be held responsible for auydamage accruing from the opening of their dam. for discharge of sludge and tailings ; objectors agreeing to open both dam-gates when so doing, and applicant to see to closing of his own gates. RESIDENCE AREAS. James Crombie, adjoining Barnes and Shambrook’s areas, Pipeelay Terrace ; granted. John Pry do, adjoining Jesse Alloy’s, Doctor's Flat : granted. We hour that Mr pollings, formerly bailiff to the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Clyde, and subsequently at Cromwell, has been ro-appointed to the office of bailiff for the combined district. Bold Again! A certain mountebank announced to a large audience that, at the next entertainment he would show to every man present vhat waa in his heart. The time came, and the concourse was immense. All waited with doath-like silence. He stood up. and in a single sentence redeemed his pledge : “ Von ail wu*U to buy* cheap and sell dear."
