UNLAWFULLY RESISTING POLICE. ’ 1* .Several miners, named Lamont, Douglas, and Noill, were charged by Sergeant l j OfAacls withunlawfully resisting The police while
in the execution of their duty, at Bendigo. The three first-named defendants applied to have their cases adjourned till the '27 th inst. The application was granted by the Bench. Neill was .fined 10s and costs. Bingo was further charged with idling profane language, this charge being also adjourned. CIVIL CASKS. M. Comiellah and party v. tho Mayor and Corporation of Cromwell. —Claim of £43 15s, for water supplied to the town. The case was adjourned to the 27th inst., being beyond tho jurisdiction of the Justices. Carl Nelson’s application for a hawker’s license was also adjourned to tho same date. THURSDAY, APRIL 14. (Before J. D. Feraud, Esq. , J.P.) Peter Maher and W. Lament, for drunkenness and disorderly conduct the preceding evening, were lined 40s each. [Before 0. \Y. Ooothjer, Esq., and J. Hazletl, Esq., J.P.a.) VIOLENT ASSAULT AT BANNOCKBURN'. Samuel Howell and Charles Lawrence were charged with unlawfully and Violently assaulting J. Halliday, at Smith's Gully, Bannockburn. On the application of the Sergeant of Police, they were remanded till the 18th instant, when, after hearing the sworn testimony of Dr Corse that Mr Halliday was oiit of danger, the presiding. Justices (Messrs Goodgcr and Hazlett) admitted the defendants to bail, theiMelves in £IOO each, and two sureties of £SO each- caste t6 be heard before the Resident Magistrate oil the 27th inst.
