The strike of the Mount Icln miners still continues. From the local journal we learn that a largely-attended meeting of miners was hold on Saturday, the 12th instant, for the purpose of hearing the answer to the petition sent to the Executive praying for the suspension of Section 2of Regulation xxv. of the Goldfields Regulations. The chairman read a letter he had received from Mr Warden Robinson, stating that his Honor the Superintendent had complied with the request of the petitioners, and had suspended the clause in question for thirty days. Another meeting of miners was held on the 17th inst., at which it was stated that three of the companies were prepared to reduce the rate charged for water ; and by resolution passed at this meeting four delegates were appointed to confer with an equal number of representative* of the water cm panics upon the present disagreement between them—each party binding themselves to accept the joint decision of the united delegates as a final solution of the difficulty. In the event of non-agreement by the delegates, the matter to be referred to an umpire approved of by both parties, whose decision should bo final.
