Argus Office, Tuesday afternoon. Business has been rather quiet during the week, but it is usually so previous to Christmas. Stocks, however, are beiug replenished in anticipation of increased trade during the holidays. The demand from Bendigo Gully and other places remains about the same. Flour (Robertson & Hallenstcin'a).—£l7 to £l9 per ton. Pollard do. do. £l3 per ton. Bran do. do. 9 „ „ Oats.—7s per bushel. Wheat.—7s per bushel. Chaff.—£7 per ton. Hay—£9 „ „ Straw.—£7 ~ „ Potatoes.—£B ~ Bread. —ls per 41b loaf. Butter.—2s per lb. Cheese.—-Is Gd •,, Bacon.—ls Gd ~ Hani.—ls 8d „ Eggs. —2s per dozen. Kerosene.- 4s 9d per gallon. Candles.—ls 3d per lb. 'Cartage from Dunedin.—£7 10s per ton.
