BALCLUTHA, STOCK SALE. Donald Reid and Company, Limited, report aB follows: ' At the usual fortnightly sale on Friday there was a small yarding of sheep but a fair yarding of 'cattle. We sold at the following prices:—Fat wethers, 25s 6d to 28s 9d; shorn do., 25s to 275; ewes and lambs, lis 8d; store wethers, 24s 4il. Fat Cattle: Cows, £5 5s to £9 7s (3d; heifers, £5 2s 6d to £7 ss; store cows, £4 15s; two-year-qld steers, £5; dairy cows, £5 15s to £7 10s. Pigs: Suckers, to 225.
LAND SALES AT OWAKA. Mr H. T. Stodart, land agent, Owaka, reports having sold to a southern client, three jacres sections of Mr Sehleapfer's subdivision at a satisfactory figure for both buyer and soller. Anyone desirous of obtaining one or more of these nice lying building sites, had better apply at once, as they are nearly all taken up.
CENTRAL PRODUCE MART. The Central Produce Mart, Limited (Reilly, Gill and Company, proprietors) report for week ending Friday, 28th ult., as follows: — During the past week business has been confined chiefly to local items, strawberries from Alexandra claiming most attention. Oversea fruits have been conspicuous by their absence, though we expect large quantities of Canadian and American apples, also California]) oranges, to reach us during the coming week. Some of the strawberries coming forward are of excellent quality, and prices, considering the social unrest must be considered satisfactory. A limited number of pigs came to hand, which met an excellent demand at Old per lb. Old potatoes are very much in evidence, and dragging sales have been the .result. In vegetables, cauliflowers, good spring green peas and new potatoes have been in excellent demand. Onions are in sliort supply. Fair quantities of eggs are coming 'on the market, and sales are somewhat slow. Butter has been meeting a good demand from B<l to Is per lb, according to quality.
