EARL DERBY, foaled December, 1909, is a thick-set, big, sound black horse, with three white, legs. He stands HSA hands high, has the right sort of bone and hair, perfect ankles and big round feet. Manifold for 700gns; Prince Alfred, champion of Waimate, 1899; Cedric the Saxon, champion at Oamaru, 1897, 1898; Prince Arthur, several times champion at Napier; Prince of the Glen, sold in Melbourne as a three-year-old to Mr .J. Blackwood, Wilby, for 400gns; Flore, the champion maro at Oamaru and Dunedin in 1898. •From the above it will be seen that SOCIALIST is descended from the most fashionable strains of the Olydosdale breed on both sides, and as he has already an established reputation as a successful horse at the stud he should command the patronage of breeders in this district.
