She has been engaged by the Pans Opera to appear 1(3 times'during tl;« months of September and October at a •salary of £4O a night, and is being sued by a Paris dressmaker for a debt ei £I2OO. The plaintiff wished to seize the whole of the £'64o salary on the ground that Mme, Kouznetzoff was already, drawing a large salary in Russia and that what she earned in Paris was not necessary for her maintenance. Counsel for the singer asserted that if the dressmaker seined all the money she would be taking the bread out of the mouth of "this poor woman." It was a sore struggle, he said for the prima donna to live~on what she earned. The court ordered the singer to pay over one-third of the salary she earns in France.
