CLINTON NOTES.
»_•_« FIIOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. GENKIIAL. The present weather is anything but favourable for shearing, which is now fairly general, ami those who have made an early start are finding some difficulty in making much headway, as the sheep have just time to get dry and then the usual downpour makes another halt for a few days. Oh Sunday we were visited by a phenomenal hail and thunder storm, and a party of local fishermen who were trying their luck on the Pomahaka river had to make a hasty retreat for shelter. The hailstones were of exceptionally large, size, and they stated (guaranteeing that it was no fishing yarn) that /they were as large as a sparrow's egg, and whon the storm had ceased the ground was as white as if covered with
snow. Mr Craighead, health inspector, paid an official visit here last Friday. BOWLING. Playing for the club's ferns, Messrs McEachen and (J. Redpath (hosiers) ~7 beat Messrs AVm. Hay and J as.
