Diplomatic correspondence which re- r centty passed between the British and ; ;Hussian Governments in -reference to the Russian proceedings in Central Asia was issued from the foreign Office to-day. It shows that in reply to the first despatch of Lord Salisbury, askingexplanations, the Russian Chancellor denied that any formally mission had been sent to Cabul. This: was subsequently explained in the manner previously telegraphed, namely, as an act of -courtesy on the part of "General Kauffman to the GovernorGeneral of Turkestan.
