These, however, ■ were goad to prime quality, and were keenly competed for at from Lls los to LlB for best bullocks, and L 9 10s to Ll2 for cows— equal to 42s 6d per 1001 b for prime beef, and 355,t0 37s 6d for medium. : Fat Cal vies. —Only^ eight penned^ which sold at from 13s to 35s each., ! ... ■ Fat Sheep.-;! 786 were penned, all good to prime quality, for which there was active competition, at !prices a Bha'de under last week's rates. Fat Lambs. — 143 penned, many of which were small and inferior, and brought prices in proportion, about an; average. of "..7s 6d ; while good ojiality brought 10s 9d to 12s each. Store Cattle. — We have inquiries for grown cattle in forward condition, but very few offering Store Sheep.— No Transactions. Wool .'— Advices from the Home market to date September 28th, are as follows :— " The improvement recently reported in wool has jbeen • totally lost, and prices show an average decline of Ud to2d." Sheepskins. — At the sales on Monday last there was a full attendance of buyers' but competition was ratber slack, and prices were easier. We sold green cross- breds at from 5s ,6d to 5s lOd ; do merino, 4s 3d to ss ; dry "skins at from 2s 2d to 5s Id. We also sold a few odd lots of wool at satisfactory prices. Hides. — The demand is less active, and sound wet salted are barely worth 4d per lb. Considerable numbers are offering on the coast at under that figure delivered here. Tallow is in improved demand. At auction, on Monday, we sold a few casks ordinary at 265, and rough fat at 22s per cwt. Grain. — Prime samples of wheat are wanted, and command from 4s to 4s 2d ; ordinary and inferior descriptions are, however, dull of sale, and may be quoted an 3s 9cl to 3s lid ; fowl feed, 3s 3d. Oats are still scarce, aud all parcels offering readily saleable at from 3s lOd to 4s for good to fine feed, and 4s Id to 4s 2d forjjmilling. Barley : There is little or noue offering, and prime malting would command from 6s to 6s 6d.
