The Victorian Assembly has adopted the penny postage throughout that Colony. Brisbane is suffering just now from a dangerous developement ot larrikinism. As showing the degree to which the mischief has attained there, mention is made by the local papers of a peaceable artisan, returning from his work on a Saturday night, being beaten to death — or rather set upon and so badly wounded that he had to be taken from the pavement to the hospital, and died in. the cab before, he reached that institution. • At Auckland a photographer named Posseniski has been* fined L3O for smuggling underpeculiarcircumstances. His wife's relatives, who are in Sydney, sent him a small case by the Rotorua on her last trip, and its delivery to a boy ! . was intercepted by the Customs officers, which brought Posseniski on the scene with a declaration that he was not aware of its contents. These, on examination, proved to >b§i a silk dress, a lace collar, and other articles, which were valued altogether jat LI OO.
