INCH CLUTHA RIVER BOARD OF CONSERVATORS.
A meeting of the Inch Clutha River Board of Conservators was held in the Schoolhouse, Inch. Clutha, on Monday evening. There were present Messrs Mosley (chairman), Bell, and Smaill. The mintites of previous meeting were read and confirmed A letter was read from Mr John Watt, Inch Clutha, offering his services to the Board as Inspector. The Secretary was instructed to request Mr Watt to apply in the usual way, and state what remuneration he would require for his services. A letter was received from Mr James Sanderson, Dunedin, offering his services to the Board as Engineer and Inspector of Works at a salary of Ll5O per annum, with private practice. The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr Sanderson that the Board decline to accept of his services at present, in consequence of the members of the Board themselves doing the work. Messrs Bell and Smaill laid before the Board a plan of embankments of nearly ten miles, from Mr Bell's property to Mr Darling's. It was resolved to call for tenders for same in the course of a few days. Mr Mosley was authorised to see Mr Henderson, solicitor, Balclutha, in reference to specifications. The Clerk was authorised to procure a copy of the Land Clauses Consolidation Act, 1863, for the use of the Board. The Board then adjourned till Monday, the 26th August, at 6 p.m.
