Saturday, July 6, 1878. (Before Messrs J. M'Neil and J. S. Fleming, J.P.'s.) Ann Ford was charged by Sergt. Daly with being drunk and disorderly in a public street in Baiclutha, and was fined 103, with the alternative of twenty -four hours' imprisonment. — The same prisoner was charged by William Lloyd with doing damage to a gold chain, his property, to the amount of L 5. After hearing evidence, prisoner was ordered to pay the damage to the extent of L 2, or go to gaol for seven days. Tuesday, July 9. (Before Mr J. S. Fleming, J.P.) Joseph Brown was charged by Sergeant Daly with having been drunk and disorderly in Clyde-street, Baiclutha, the previous afternoon. The accused pleaded guilty. Sergeant Daly mentioned that prisoner had beon fined 10s before the same Court a week previously for a similar i offence. Fined Ll or <18 hours' imprisonment. — The same prisoner was charged by Sergeant Daly with using obscene language on the occasion above referred to. A number of witnesses were examined, and testified to extremely filthy language having been used by prisoner upon the publicstreet in presence of a number of females and others. His Worship remarked that such scenes were fortunately rarely witnessed in the streets of Balclutlia, and- he would clo his best to put a stop to them. The accused would be fined 40s, or seven days' imprisonment.
