Mr W. N. Blair has been appointed Engineer in charge for the Middle Island, and Mr John Blackett for the North Island.
The Gazette to-night notifies that Mr John Bathgate has been appointed District Judge for Tokomairiro and Clutha j also to a seat in the Council o£ the Otago University, vice Mr Macandrew, resigned.

The sittings of the Congress terminate in three weeks, but it is intended to reassemble in the autumn to ratify the present proceedings. The attitude of the Turkish delegates has been marked by reServe throughout.

A State funeral was given to the exKing of Hanover, who was buried in St. George's Chapel at Windsor to-day.
The deliberations of Congress continue. The general principles of tho Bulgarian question have been settled.
Mr Stanton was consecrated at St. Paul's Bishop of North Queensland.
