Public notice is hereby given that the nomination of candidates for election as Councillor of tho Borough in room of Mi Robert Cramond, resigned, will take place on Saturday, the Bth June proximo, at 12 o'clock noon, at the Council Chambers, Athenceum buildings, where nomination papers in the statutory form may be delivered addressed to the undersigned before noon of that day. Public notice is hereby given that at a meeting of the Balclutha Borough Council to be held in the Council Chambers, Balclutha, on Tuesday, the 18th day of June proximo, it is the intention of the said Council to make a general rate of One Shilling in the Pound upon the rateable value of all property within the Borough for the year ending 31st March- 1879, to become payable in one sum on Monday, the 31st day of July, 1878 ; and that the rate book is open for inspection at the Town Clerk's Office, Clyde-street, Balclutha. during the office hours, until the 18th day of June proximo.
