Road Boards.
SOUTH MOLYNEUX HOAD BOARD. The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Thursday last week. There were present : Messrs Henderson (Chairman), Bradfield, Hay, Paterson, Christie, Melviile, and Steven. The minutes of lass meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Mr Shaw, Pinnegand, re transfer of road lines. Consideration of same leftover till next meeting. Tho Chairman read a letter from the Treasury, Wellington, stating that the sum of £169 19s lOd had been lodged at the bank to the credit of the Board's account, being the second instalment of subsidy for the year ending* March, The Inspector, as instructed, gave in his report on the Puerua Plat Road, and estimated the work required to cost about, M 7, — Resolved that the report be held over till next meeting. Tha Clerk was instructed to inform the Government of the death of James Brugh, Esq., the Board's Auditor, and request that another be appoiufced as soon as possible. The Inspector was instructed to call for tenders for about two chains of metalling in the Catlins River sub-divi-sion. Accounts were passed to the atnoun of £120, and the Board adjourned. MATAU ROAD BOAIID. A special meeting* of the Matau District Koad Board was held on Saturday evening. There were present— Messrs Inglis (chairman), ■ Anderson, and Robertson. The Chairman read a letter from the Clerk, of the Kaitangata Road' Board in reference to repairs to Kaitangata bridge, stating that afc last meeting of the Kaitangata Road Board it was resolved that joinb application be made by the Matau and Kaitangata Road Boards to tho Bruce County "Council to repair, Kaitangata bridge and approaches thereto.. After deliberation on the subject, it was agreed that the Matau Jioad J3oard pay half the cost ot repairs on said briclge, the Board being of opinion tbat the Bruce County Council would not grant the application at the present time. It was moved by Mr Robertson, seconded by Mr Anderson, and carried — '*' Thafc the Kaitangata and Matau Road Boards respectively appoint a member to inspect the said bridge before calling for tenders." Mr Uobertson was appointed as inspecting member for Matau Road Board. Mr Robertson reported having seen IMr Grant, Railway Manager, in reference to the carrying of metal from the old railway terminus to Stirling, and stated that Mr Grant was quite agreeable to allow trucks to be left at the old railway terminus, and run the trucks loaded to Stirling station during the afternoon of each day. The report was adopted. It was moved by Mr Roberfcson, and seconded by Mr Anderson— " That seperate tenders be called for for road metal contract at Kaitangata— No. 1, for quarrying* and filling fcrucks at the old railway terminus $ No. 2, for carting* from Kaitangata Railway . Station, breaking and laying same on road ; road to be repaired if required before metal is laid." The Board then adjourned till the last Saturday in April.
